natal publishers Microsoft Announces Publishers Working on Xbox 360 Project Natal GamesIf there is any doubt over the huge impact Microsoft looks set to make on the gaming industry with the release of Xbox 360 Natal, then they will dashed by the interest shown from game developers. Firstly, Microsoft creative director, Kudo Tsunoda, wowed the crowds at the Tokyo Game Show with working demonstrations of Project Natal. Then, support for the system was offered by respected industry professionals, such as Hideo Kojima, Toshihiro Nagoshi and Keiji Inafune.

If that impressive pedigree of supporters was not enough, Microsoft recently announced the developers that are currently working on software for Project Natal. The list includes some of the most well respected publishers, such as Sega, Konami, Electronic Arts, Disney, MTV Games, Capcom, Activation Blizzard, Bethesda, THQ, Namco Bandai, Ubisoft and Square Enix.

An impressive crowd, but even more impressive when you consider that these publishers provide 70% of games sales from third party developers.

Thus far, Project Natal, code-named after a Brazilian City, has been shown with working demonstrations of an impressive, albeit rudimentary, dodge ball-like game and a version of Burnout Paradise adapted for the Natal’s technology. It certainly seems as if these demos were enough to incite enthusiasm for the project.

Natal, which will be re-named before its release, is set to be the first system to operate entirely with a controller. If it brings half the success that it is predicted to, when it is eventually brought o the public in 2010/2011, Project Natal could alter the future of gaming and make the immensely popular Wii look like a mere sideshow act.
